Ukie Student Conference 2018 Major players to take stage at free gaming conference

Major players from the computer games industry are heading to Staffordshire University for the UK’s biggest student games conference next week.

The Ukie Student Conference 2018 takes place at Staffordshire University’s Stoke-on-Trent campus on Wednesday 24 October and is designed to bring academia and industry together to inspire and educate future talent in the games sector.

Tickets are offered free to students across the UK and the event features keynote speakers from leading games companies including Jagex, Playground Games, EPIC and Coatsink.

Solo-developed Executive Assault 2 out now on Steam Early Access

RTS/FPS-hybrid space combat game Executive Assault 2 has just launched on Steam Early Access and I'd love to give you a couple of keys to review the game and also try out the multiplayer.

You'll be pretty amazed to discover that a game of this size and scope has been single-handedly designed and coded by self-taught developer Rob Hesketh.

Played largely as a strategy game, Executive Assault 2 also lets players take direct control of any unit on the battlefield at the click of a button. At any time you can jump between any troop, weapon emplacement or ship on the battlefield for FPS combat or command entire fleets in top-down RTS mode.

Wreckfest game delayed - here's why...

THQ Nordic and Bugbear Entertainment hereby announce that the release of Wreckfest on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One series devices (including Xbox One X) will be delayed. The release of the game will therefore be postponed from November 20, 2018 to 2019.

Senior Producer at THQ Nordic quote: "Wreckfest for consoles will only be released as soon as we love playing it. After the fantastic release on PC, the benchmark for the console release is much higher. At this moment, the team needs more time to polish the multiplayer part, as well as the overall performance on the game to bring it up to par with the experience on PC. We are sorry for keeping fans waiting longer because of this. However, we already have compensation in the form of further vehicles, including a special crazy vehicle, in the works for consoles. Last Saturday the Earth Hall at Poznan International Fair witnessed the first edition of CEEGA ceremony. CEEGA stands for Central and Eastern European Game Awards and it honors the best games in categories such as: Visual Art, Audio, Design, Narrative, Technology, Hidden Game, Best Mobile Game, and Best Game. It is granted by 16 organizations from Central and Eastern Europe – the main goal of this initiative is to recognize and promote the best video games from this region yearly. The CEEGA ceremony took place during Poznan Game Arena and Game Industry Conference and 2018 is the first year the awards were given.

Sean Bean in Hitman 2 as Elusive Target No. 1 – The Undying – Scheduled to Release on 20th November

Actor Sean Bean will star in the first Elusive Target mission for the Hitman 2 video game. Bean will take on the role of Mark Faba, a former MI5 agent turned freelance assassin. Notoriously known as “The Undying”, Faba’s reputation as a master of faking his own death is second to none, ultimately causing the International Contract Agency (ICA) to put an imposing bounty on his head.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of the upcoming Hitman 2 video game” said Bean, “It’s always exciting to take on a new role, and I look forward to seeing my character in action when the Elusive Target mission launches.”

Crossout - Halloween 2018 event has started today PC PS4 XO

Celebrate Halloween in the post-apocalyptic online action game Crossout from today (Oct 16) until November 1st, players can craft unique decorative items for their Crossout vehicles by collecting “Tricky treats” through in-game tasks. Items like a crazy exhaust and the hearse horn will not only instill fear in the enemy's hearts, but also increase the amount of experience a player earns while using his vehicle in battle.

The first mission that offers “Tricky treats” as a reward is the “Witch Hunt” brawl, where players scramble to take possession of a garland of creepy balloons. Once attached to their vehicle, they become the “Witch” the other players are after, and need to remain in control of the garland for as long as possible.
