Witch Thief game launched with new video

Witch Thief is an intense but humorous story-driven 3D shooter that puts you through bullet heaven, hell and everywhere between - featuring an unusual elevated perspective, adjustable on the fly, and a number of other cool innovations such as the relaxed 'chill mode' for players who find shmups too hardcore.

Witch Thief is out today on Steam and Itch.io for PC at a special introductory price of $17.99, after which it will revert to a standard price of $19.99.

On a quest to steal an enchanted grimoire, a snarky sorceress embarks on a journey through five distinctive, perilous zones, surviving arena-based ambushes by possessed dolls and arcane bosses. Naturally the tome’s guardians won’t give it up without a fight, so our heroine must do what she does best: that is, sneaking in the front door and stealing it from under their noses.

Players can unlock three more playable and equally feisty witch heroines with different powers, each with a personal story told through unique dialogue, entwined inextricably with the Witch Thief’s own tale.

‘We hope players have as much fun playing Witch Thief as we have had making it. It’s been a long journey from the idea that we could make a bullet hell game with a different visual perspective, and at the same time tell the intertwined stories of the witches competing to control the grimoire,’ explains Tim Bermanseder, co-founder, Cardboard Keep and project lead on the game. ‘We’re already planning our first free update for PC in November, Dungeon Mode, and starting work on the console versions.’

Witch Thief is crafted by indie team Cardboard Keep. It’s out for Windows PC on September 21st 2018, to be followed by console versions in early 2019.
