There are various competitive events in the velodromes that enable managers to put their team’s endurance, speed and skill to the test:

Scratch race – all contestants start the race on equal terms. Riders must overtake and lap their competitors, holding this lead until the finish to gain an advantage over those who have completed fewer laps.

Flying 200 metre time trial – time is critical in this speedy event as riders must race along the set distance to achieve the quickest time possible, ensuring a win for their team.

Points race – this official Olympic discipline involves many cyclists racing simultaneously on the same track for up to 160 laps. A sprint is held every ten laps, with points awarded to the top four finishers; the winner is the rider with the most points at the end. This event is very tactical, so players must decide the best racing style in order to secure a win for their team. Some racers prefer to sit back and conserve energy, only attacking for the sprints to accumulate points. Others may attempt to take control of a lap early in the race and defend their leading position.

Omnium – a multiple race event where all contestants compete against each other in a flying time trial, scratch race, individual pursuit, points race and shorter time trial. It is widely considered to be the event that determines the best all-round track cyclists due to the combination of sprint and endurance required. Team manager’s skills will be put to the test as they decide which riders are best at each specific discipline to ensure success.

Pro Cycling Manager - Tour de France 2009 lets players experience an action-packed racing season, filled with more than 180 races - including the famed Tour de France and the Spain Tour (Vuelta). At the head of one of the 60 official teams available, or of the team you have custom-created, throw yourself into some of the biggest challenges: win a Tour, shine during the whole season, train a rising star or confirm a great champion -- the challenges are plentiful and allow you to play "your way", either for the glory of becoming a champion, or simply to enjoy racing.

During Pro Cycling Manager's races, you intervene directly when it comes to the strategy and tactics of your team. As a sports director, you will also have to manage your team during the seasons: negotiating contracts, purchasing equipment, handling rider transfers, practice scheduling and all the other key elements that make up the daily job of a top-level team manager.

Pro Cycling Manager – Tour De France 2008 is the latest version of the popular racing management game for PC and PSP. For cycling fans currently following the Tour de France, the race doesn’t have to end this weekend as the free demo is now available to download.

The demo will allow players to manage the Spanish Euskaltel team as they race through the Alps in the important Cuneo to Jausiers 16th stage of the Tour de France 2008. The team is preparing for the last week of the race before the grand final at the Champs-Élysées. However, no stages have been won yet and sponsors are beginning to pile on the pressure to see their colours on the podium. This 157.4 km testing route requires a talented Director of Sports to lead the team to victory.

Surrounded by the highest paved roads in Europe, the 16th stage takes place in mountainous terrain with breath-taking downhill sections to ensure a spectacular end to the race. Implement the best strategy to make the most of the mountain racer’s skills, preventing breakaway riders that could ruin your chances of victory.

The Pro Cycling Manager – Tour de France 2008 demo also offers players the opportunity to participate in track cycling events such as Keirin style racing. Compete against six skilled riders racing at 50 kph for three laps of intense competition. A tutorial mode will also help you get the best out of your team during a race.

Cycling’s biggest tournament, the Tour De France, started on July 5th with the world’s best cyclists battling through the 22 day race. Cycling fans can get a unique insight into the epic competition with Pro Cycling Manager – Tour De France 2008. This is the latest version of the popular racing management game for PC and PSP, available now.

Aspiring sports managers must build the best team and implement strategically sound race tactics throughout their own Tour de France, as they mastermind a bid for the prestigious yellow jersey. Players are in charge of every aspect from start to finish, including selecting the best riders and setting training schedules to prepare the team for the arduous race ahead.



Once the tour begins, the team of cyclists has to be guided through the 21 stages and 2000 miles of gruelling competitive racing. Starting in Brest, the stages make up a round trip of France, including races through Nantes, Toulouse and the famous Alpe D’Huez. Cyclists will finish the three week stint with the traditional loop around the historic Champs-Élysées in Paris.

With the start of the 2008 Tour de France just over a week away, this is the perfect chance to test your professional cycling management skills before the real race begins.



Guide your well-trained cyclists through the 21 stages and 3,500 km of gruelling competitive racing. The 95th Tour De France will start in Brest on July 5th and will include 5 mountain range races, before finishing at the historic Champs-Élysées in Paris on July 27th.
