European Games Award 2012 Online voting for the Pan-European public choice award for games lasts until August 13


Votes for the European Games Award are coming in thick and fast as the intensity rises to find out who will win the top awards this year. Over 100.000 votes have been submitted online at http://www.european-games-award.com/index.php/voting and a new voting record has already been broken. Games, developers, publishers, magazines and platforms from 15 countries compete until August 13, 2012, for the much sought-after prize in the gaming industry – the European Games Award.

Portal 2 wins best game at BAFTA Video Game Awards 2012


The First Person Puzzle game Portal 2 scooped the top game award at the BAFTAs with Battlefield 3 winning the public award plus it also won the best online multi-player award.

2011 GAME British Academy Video Games Awards BAFTA Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 2, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Civilization V honoured at UK game awards

HEAVY RAIN won three awards at the GAME British Academy Video Games Awards at the London Hilton, hosted by Dara O’Briain. The film noir-style thriller took home the BAFTAs for Original Music, Technical Innovation and Story.

Indie horror video game 'The Path' title wins at hóPLAY Bilbao

The first edition of the hóPLAY International Video Game Festival has ended with the announcement of its competition winners during an amusing ceremony at the Alhóndiga center in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. Indie horror title The Path by Belgian development studio Tale of Tales has received two of the six awards: one for Best Design and one for Best Sound. Each award is good for 6,000 Euros. Tale of Tales is celebrating with a 50% discount on the game.

Unity Technologies Wins Prestigious Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Award

Assassin's Creed 2 grabs seven gold awards at MI6 conference

Assassin's Creed 2MI6, the association dedicated to supporting marketing, promotion and advertising professionals in the video game and interactive entertainment community, hosted a festive awards show to honor the best marketing work in the video game industry, wrapping up the action-packed fifth annual MI6 Conference. Comedian Ryan Stout hosted the evening and kept the crowd laughing. Assassin’s Creed 2 took home the most gold with seven MI6 Awards, including the highly competitive “Outstanding Overall Integrated Marketing Campaign” award.

Miyamoto awarded BAFTA Academy Fellowship in the Video Games Sector

Shigeru Miyamoto's career began in 1977, when he was hired by a family friend - Hiroshi Yamauchi, then president of Nintendo - as a staff artist. Yamauchi selected Miyamoto to re-work the company's unsuccessful arcade machine Radar Scope and, after working on a range of new options, Miyamoto eventually settled on the characters and composition which became one of the first running-and-jumping "platform" games, Donkey Kong.
