PSVita sales crash in Japan ahead of worldwide launch - PSVita

Sales of Sony's new handheld console the PlayStation Vita have plummeted in their home country of Japan.



As you can see from the graphic sales dropped from 325,000 sold in week one to 18,000 in week five.

Microsoft to sell Xbox 360 in China following ban since 2000 - despite creating $4 billion profit for Chinese exports

China has had a ban on video game consoles since 2000, fear that youths will spend all their time playing games, the government edict in the year 2000 banned the sale of game consoles. It's OK for them to make the consoles or parts for them but there sale is not allowed (legally). Now this may change as Microsoft are working with the Chinese government to allow the sale of their Xbox 360.

PS 3 memory usage slashed as operating system re-write

The console originally had an OS footprint of around 120MB's spread accross both the XDR and DDR Ram, which was soon reduced to 96MB (64MB on XDR and 32MB on DDR).

Sony lose $40 per PS3 down from $250 - soon they could make PlayStation 3 pay...

image of new playstation 3 slim with controlleriSupply report shows a current PlayStation 3 Slim costs Sony $336.27 to make, that's down nearly $500 from the $805 Sony paid to produce a single PS3 at launched. Even at the lowered price of $299, Sony are losing $37 per PS3.

"In light of these factors, the PlayStation 3 probably is already at or near the tipping point for profitability," iSuppli's Andrew Rassweiler concluded.
