Scottish comedian, Frankie Boyle, performs stand-up in GTA IV The Lost And The Damned DLC...

Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle can be found hidden in the DLC for The Lost And The Damned.

Boyle can be found performing a stand-up routine at the Split Sides comedy club. Rockstar even motion captured him for authenticity - you can check the credits at the end of The Lost And The Damned if you don't believe us.
"It's highlights from his live act plus at least one GTA IV in-joke," says GTA IV madman and OXM editor Jon Hicks (in that order). "See him at the Split Sides comedy club on Frankfort Ave, one block over and down a bit from Star Junction."
So there you have it. Frankie Boyle in GTAIV! A pretty awesome idea, truth be told. Let's hope this doesn't mean we'll also get Jim Davidson in Resident Evil 5...

Have Rockstar censored Grand Theft Auto IV - The Lost and Damned?

The Lost and DamnedRockstar has offered Eurogamer no comment on the apparent censoring of Grand Theft Auto IV after the release of The Lost and Damned.

European gamers noticed, after an update was applied, that pools of blood no longer formed under bullet-riddled corpses and red mist no longer sprayed as bullets found their mark. YouTube has a before-and-after video comparison to illustrate all this.

Also, the update appears to have limited the camera angles used when you frolic with prostitutes.

Meanwhile, over in previously censored Australia, the exact opposite has been happening: blood now flows freely and prostitution can be seen clearly.

We suspect there's been some sort of mix up, but neither Rockstar nor Microsoft has held their hands up.

Grand Theft Auto IV download Lost and Damned costs $20 out February 17th

Lost and Damned
Rockstar has made it official that the biker-themed Grand Theft Auto IV Download content, titled Lost and Damned, will be going for 1600 Microsoft Points ($20 USD). The DLC will be exclusively available only for the Xbox 360 version of the game.

The Download content is released on February 17th.

This time around you won't be in the shoes of Russian immigrant Niko Bellic, instead, you'll be the shoes of American born biker Johhny Klebitz. The Lost is the name of the

Johnny Klebitz, a member of Liberty City biker gang The Lost. The bike gang made a few appearances in Grand Theft Auto IV, and Niko Bellic is rumored to be making a cameo in the DLC.

Lost and Damned

The DLC has had high production values, as DLC goes, and Rockstar probably hopes that it'll move more than million units, seeing how GTA IV was one of the best selling games of the year.

Grand Theft Auto IV on PC more problems reported...

GTA IV Poll
Despite getting a supposedly better GTA IV (complete with video editor, bigger multi-player and improved visuals), PC gamers are complaining about graphical issues, crashes and freezes while trying to connect to the Internet.

Rockstar have already suggested a few possible solutions and these have been added to by various sites.

These include:
  • Defragging your hard drive after installing the game
  • Signout of Rockstar Social Club online
  • Instal the latest service pack for Vista or XP
  • Instal .net Framework 3.5 (and making sure you’ve got 1.1 already on there)
  • Use Beta drivers for nVIDIA 7900 cards.
ATI card owners aren’t getting any better results!

On GTAForums’ poll on the issue, currently, of 198 people who own Grand Theft Auto IV on PC, 14 per cent can run the game smoothly, for 32 per cent the game runs, but “horribly” and 12 per cent can’t get the game to run at all.

Rockstar to patch GTA IV after PC problems

GTA IV

Players are reporting that Grand Theft Auto IV on PC has some major reliability problems - but Rockstar is on the way to the rescue.
"We are aware that a small number of fans are having problems running GTA IV on their PCs and we would like to assure them we are working to help solve these as quickly as possible,"
a Rockstar spokesperson told GTAGaming.
"We would ask anyone that is encountering difficulties to contact their local technical support helpline for advice and recommendations. These telephone numbers can be found in the game's manual. "There is also a regularly updated technical support page available on the Rockstar Games website where there are many useful FAQs, and information on how to resolve some common problems being encountered,"
added the statement.

The problems appear to revolve around lengthy validation and astronomic graphics settings that not even the best PCs can utilise. One Steam forum member summed the problems up eloquently. As Kotaku points out, the Steam forums are not the only ones awash with floundering fans: GTAForums and the GTAGaming boards both exhibit large mobs of disgruntled purchasers.

This is a shame, because Grand Theft Auto IV remains a classic game, although the PC conversion - as Kieron Gillen highlights in his review - has a few too many technical hiccups.

Grand Theft Auto IV on PC includes SecuROM 7 install

Grand Theft Auto IVImage via Wikipedia

The upcoming PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV will install SecuROM 7 on customers' systems, although the game maker claims its properly de-fanged the detested DRM technology.

Rockstar told the gaming site IGN that GTA IV's flavor of SecuROM won't limit the number of installs of the game, nor will it restrict the number of machines it can be put on.

Those were arguably the most reviled SecuROM checks previously used on games such as EA's Spore, which have put many gamers up at arms. EA later backed down on the number total Spore installs, but kept the PC limit capped at five.

A Rockstar spokesperson told IGN:

GTA IV PC uses SecuROM for protecting our EXE until street date has passed, to ensure the retail disk is in the computer drive, and is used for Product Activation of the title. Product Activation is a one time only online authentication when installing the game.

The anti-DRM crowd will still have the rest of SecuROM's questionable repertoire to wag a finger at. It had been known to cause hardware problems for some, and even after a game has been removed from your system, uninstalling SecuROM is no easy task.

The latter point explains why the Rockstar rep added that even if a customer uninstalls and re-install GTA IV, it won't require re-authentication. (Unless a customer changes to "major" components on the PC, such as CPU and video card). "Active functions" of SecuROM are removed on the game's installation but "some traces will remain," according to Rockstar. The company said it's presently "working" with SecuROM just to post information on its support pages on how to remove the DRM completely.

Although an internet connection will be required for activation, the game maker said it will provide for rustic customers to activate the game using someone else's machine with web access.

To ward off those looking for the inevitable pirated version of GTA IV with SecuROM removed, the Rockstar spinster went with the angle that property theft isn't as easy, profitable, and amusing as each and every game in the GTA series would suggest:

Aside from the fact that warez are a great place to pick up a Trojan or key logger, using a cracked copy of GTA IV PC will result in varying changes to the game experience. These can range from comical to game-progress-halting changes.
It sounds a bit like the company is leaking bugged versions of the game on file-sharing sites. That may even keep freetards from getting their paws on a stolen digital copy for one — maybe two days tops by our estimate.

Grand Theft Auto IV PC video editor - what can you do?

So we know there's going to be a video editor for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV (PC)grand theft auto IV, but what can you do with it, and how do you do it?

Rockstar has dropped details on the versatile little app that will allow just about anyone to easy create and share game clips with the Social Club TV website. To start, all you have to do is hit F2 and the previous 30-40 seconds of gamezplay are dumped into a clip.

Open up the video editor from your in-game cell phone, and from there you can view the clips, use the editor to string them together, adding music, special effects, titles, and transitions, and then head to the upload section to post them directly on the Rockstar Games Social Club TV site for everyone's viewing enjoyment.
