Pokemon Go down here's why - Login not working for Pokemon training club (PTC) worldwide

The Pokemon GO Hub believes the game is not working as developers Niantic are attempting "an infrastructure update for Niantic's anti-bot measures."

POKEMON GO Trainer Club login is down for users around the world. Pokémon GO Hub claiming that the issue is isolated to any users who utilise the Pokémon Trainer Club to log in (PTC).

Here's their statement - "PTC is down at the moment without any ETA. PTC outage has been happening quite often recently, without any explanation from Niantic and the Pokémon Company."

DownDetector.com is indicating that the game is having issues around the world, with problems in Australia, Europe, Japan and America.

"In Bowling Green Ohio at 5:33 a.m. I cannot login to my account I have tried several times" wrote one user

"Unable to authenticate/can't log in from UK", "Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Unable to log in for last hour." wrote to UK residents.

"Unable to authenticate. New Zealand" claimed another.

However, there appears to be a reason for this outage, and while it might not seem like it right now, it could be good news.

The Pokemon GO Hub believes the game is not working as developers Niantic are attempting "an infrastructure update for Niantic's anti-bot measures."

"As bots and third party apps almost exclusively use PTC accounts, it’s possible that PTC outages are connected to a database clean-up or an incoming bot ban wave."

More recently the latest Pokemon GO update contained references to some anti-hacking measures, which could be part of a wider initiative from Niantic to stamp out cheats.

It would suggest the game would block any encounters Snipers make, but there are no signs if it will also stop PokeStop spins.
