Land Auction System Uncovered in Sandbox MMORPG Albion Online - PC

MMORPG Albion Online, is preparing for the upcoming Closed Beta this November by adding new features and modifying the existing ones in order to offer the Albion community the best possible experience.

Their most recent blog post The Land Auction System introduces the new land auction system which replaces the previous upkeep payment, and explains how the changes will make the whole land ownership process more engaging.

The land auction starts one week before the end of any lease applying a maximum bid system: players enter the maximum amount of silver they are willing to spend on a plot. Even though the bids of current plot owners count double, it is possible for other players to increase their bid in the first six days of the auction. On the seventh day, only the current owner of a plot is allowed to increase the bid to prevent them from being „sniped“ at the last second. By winning the auction, current owners will be granted a land lease extension of four or eight weeks. If the current owner is outbid, the plot ownership changes with the previous owner getting a percentage of the winning bid as a compensation.

The goal of the auction system is to prevent a constant blockade of building plots and to give novice players joining Albion Online a fair chance at owning a desirable building space. Theoretically, now players can purchase any plot – as long as they are able to outbid the previous owner, encouraging a more fluid market and also bringing some additional „economic PvP“ into the game.
