PlayStation announced as an official partner of Movember

Campaign planned to raise awareness of men’s health during the month of November
City, Date: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has today announced PlayStation as an official partner of Movember in a bid to help raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health during the month of November. The annual Movember campaign encourages men around the world to grow moustaches for 30 days of November encouraging the surrounding community to donate to their efforts.

Discussing the partnership, Usama Al-Qassab, VP Product Marketing at PlayStation said, “We’re extremely excited to be a part of Movember. We have a fantastic opportunity to bring the PlayStation community together and take part in a simple yet brilliantly fun way of raising awareness of men’s health issues.”

PlayStation has developed a series of key initiatives including a significant prize offering to encourage male players (“Mo Bros”) worldwide to grow facial hair during the month of November and female players (“Mo Sistas”) to celebrate the moustache. Players will be invited to grow their own moustache alongside Galahad, star of upcoming PlayStation 4 (PS4) release The Order: 1886. Galahad will personally regrow his famous moustache for the first time ever during Movember alongside fans who join his team on Movember.com.

Your DualShock 4 controller could also be taking part in Movember, with the creation of an exclusive limited edition moustache vinyl for the lightbar – “The Mo Glow”. These will be available from specialist retailers across markets through the month of November.

In addition to this, renowned illustrator Tom Mac has created a selection of limited edition illustrations showing some of the most loved PlayStation characters of all time participating in Movember. These include LittleBigPlanet’s Sackboy, Ellie (Mo Sista) from The Last of Us and Delsin from InFamous. All of these will be revealed on the PS Blog throughout Movember, with fans given the chance to win a limited edition print of each character.

Rewarding those who have signed up to take part in Movember, PlayStation is offering one Mo Bro or Mo Sista in the UK the chance to win a once in a lifetime trip to the UEFA Champions League Final with flights and accommodation included. Anyone else who manages to raise £25 in donations will receive automatic entry into a prize draw to win a PS4, PS Vita and selection of games.

JC, Movember’s Co-Founder added, “Our aim is to encourage men to grow moustaches that generate funds and spark conversations around men’s health. Having this opportunity to work with PlayStation to engage with their passionate community will help us drive awareness of Movember.”
