It’s Hero Time! for Ben 10 as new game Alien: Xenodrome tops APAC app charts

A new free app starring Cartoon Network’s favorite action hero has shot straight to the top of the iTunes Store, achieving almost half a million downloads in its first month. Released on July 25, Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Xenodrome is already topping the charts for iPad and iPhone games, as screen-hopping kids across Asia Pacific download the ultimate power-up for tablets and smartphones. The Android version launches in Asia in September.

By August 26, the free app had already garnered 467,000 regional downloads just through Apple’s App Store. It secured top-10 rankings for overall and games apps in at least 20 countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, India and the Philippines. It’s also ranking highly in action and kids’ categories and has been the featured app in Australia and New Zealand.

Mark Counsell, Turner’s Associate Director of Interactive Media said, “For kids around Asia Pacific, Ben 10 remains the ultimate superhero. These phenomenal download figures show the franchise’s enduring popularity and that Ben 10 fans just can’t get enough of his alien-morphing antics. The app’s gameplay is the perfect complement to the TV series and features intense turn-based combat encounters, with victory unlocking new challenges to keep fans on the edge of their seat.”

The game is based on the Ben 10: Ultimate Alien animated series, featuring superhero sensation Ben Tennyson who can transform into superhuman alien beings. Players must use these alien forms – each with unique powers, strengths and weaknesses – to stop the evil Aggregor and other nefarious villains across the galaxy.

Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Xenodrome features nine of Ben’s alien forms, including Rath and Ultimate Humungousaur. Enemies include more than a dozen foes such as the Forever Knights and Charmcaster. The game’s extensive upgrade system allows players to customize their heroes and test their skills in the single-player story mode or against other players connected via Bluetooth.

Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Xenodrome is developed by TurnOut Ventures, a joint venture between Turner and Outblaze Investments Limited.

"We are proud of the innovative gameplay on Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Xenodrome," said Lobson Chan, Board Director for TurnOut Ventures and Senior Director at Outblaze. "The first mobile app from TurnOut Ventures has already climbed to the number one position in 10 App Stores across Asia and we look forward to reaching even more Ben 10 fans with the launch of the Android version.”

The app is available for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch devices through iTunes and via in English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Thai and Bahasa Indonesia. The version for Android devices will be available from Google Play in September.
