Final Fight + Magic Sword = Final Fight: Double Impact!

final fight game logoFinal Fight: Double Impact is two great arcade classics coming to Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network in one sweet package.

Final Fight is one of the all-time greats of the beat-em-up genre. Choose from Mike “the Mayor” Haggar, Guy, or Cody, to team up and take back the kidnapped Jessica.

On your way to final boss wheelchair crossbow master (there’s a phrase I didn’t think I’d be saying today) Belger, you’ll have to fight your way through Street Fighter boss crossovers, including Rolento, Sodom, and Andore (aka Hugo?). This game is absolutely required reading for any fan of beat-em-ups, and features enhanced HD graphical filters (a la MVC2), and drop-in online co-op!

Magic Sword is another side-scrolling classic, chock full of everything you want out of an epic dungeon fantasy: secret doors, power-ups, tons of enemies, bosses galore, and oh yeah—assist characters (go with the Knight—he’s so good!). Magic Sword also gets more on-line coop goodness, and the purdy new HD graphical filters.

On a personal note, I’m extremely pleased to say that Final Fight: Double Impact will be shipping with GGPO netcode. I had just started working at Capcom, and on my second day I met the then-head of Capcom production. I said “hi you don’t know me but there’s this thing called GGPO and it’s awesome and my friend Tony made it and ZOMG we should totally use it!” Needless to say, that’s not the way to get things done at large corporations, but here we are a few years later, and I’ve got a big smile on my face every time I see that GGPO logo on the load screen.

In addition to being one of my oldest friends, Tony (Tony Cannon, GGPO creator) is also a networking genius, and created GGPO in an effort to bring that immediate arcade feeling online. He’s succeeded beyond the wildest expectations, but don’t take my word for it: try it yourself, and become a believer!
